About the event
About Neus
Passionate about dancing since the age of 5, Neus has a broad international experience working across Spain, Holland, USA and UK as a dancer, choreographer and circus director for theatre, adverts and films.
After working in companies such as Dance Works Rotterdam, National dance Company Wales and Hofesh Schechter, in 2015 she founded her own company, Nua Dance, which regularly receives Arts Council funding. In 2017 Neus started working with circus artists with her own company and as a movement teacher at National Centre for Circus Arts. She has since created four pieces blending dance and circus and has been invited to speak at several symposiums on cross art forms organised by Deda and Wiltshire Creative.
Neus also coaches choreographers and circus artists in the creation of their works for stage, both independently and at the National Centre for Circus Arts.
10- 11:30 Movement class of Delicate Beast technique
Neus' well tested technique, Delicate Beast feeds off the many influences Neus has received in her prolific career, specially the imagination-driven intense physicality of Ohad Naharin and Hofesh Shechter. Neus' class is impro-based, focusing on improving the participant's awareness of their movement by listening to the natural path of the movement through the body, with an intuitive and honest approach. Delicate Beast is beneficial for dancers, actors, circus artists and all physical performers, who are challenged to use different dynamics and get out of their comfort zone while still being fully committed to move with a sense of totality. With this deep embodiment of physicality and high concentration, the participant will be able to then apply this awareness to any choreographies they go on to perform and use the newly gained tools for their own movement devising.
